Importing Peptides into Australia: TGA Rules 2026
Australia peptide import laws explained. TGA personal importation scheme, Schedule 4 vs Schedule 10, and what to expect at Sydney customs.
TGA Schedule 4 vs Schedule 10
Schedule 4 compounds require a prescription. Schedule 10 compounds are prohibited. Most therapeutic peptides (BPC-157, TB-500, semaglutide) are Schedule 4. No commonly used peptides are Schedule 10.
Personal Importation Scheme
The TGA Personal Importation Scheme allows individuals to import up to a 3-month supply of prescription medication for personal use. You must have a valid prescription from an Australian-registered practitioner.
Do not mail peptides to Australia without a permit.
Australian Border Force actively intercepts pharmaceutical shipments. Unlicensed imports by mail require a separate TGA permit. Personal carry is the only practical option.
Flying into Sydney or Melbourne
Expect customs to inspect pharmaceutical items. Australian Border Force is thorough. Have all documentation ready before joining the customs queue. The red (declare) channel is safer than the green (nothing to declare) channel for peptide travelers.
Online Permit Application
For quantities exceeding the personal importation limit, apply through the TGA website at least 4 weeks before travel. Approval is not guaranteed and processing times vary.
